Title:  Under God, We ARE our Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper

Reference: James 5:13-20

    2. Besides personal influence, He gives means for recovering wanderers

    1. V. 20
    2. By Grace, you help turn away God’s displeasure on a wanderer who repents.

Questions for Study:

  • James’ letter instructs in basic Christian living — practicing the Faith that is in Christ Jesus.  What is his final word/subject that he covers? (See 5:19-20)  Why do you think he made THIS his last word?
  • Have you ever prayed for someone to come back to the Lord?  Have you ever helped to bring someone back to the Lord?
  • Besides prayer for the wanderer to repent, what other Christ-like thing do we need to do?  See: Luke 15: 1-5, 8-9
  • If we know of a Christian whose love for Christ has cooled or is openly straying, whose responsibility is it to seek them out?
  • In light of v. 20, should we be nonchalant about people who neglect to assemble with God’s people and whose spiritual life visibility suffers?  Underlying v. 20 is the fact that there is salvation in no other person than in Jesus Christ.  He and He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  How does this truth add urgency to efforts to reclaim the backslider?
