Questions for Study:

  • Have you ever been treated poorly because of your Christian faith?
  • What feelings & thoughts did it stir up?
  • In Acts 5, the Jewish leaders had the Apostles arrested, beaten & ordered them not to preach Christ. When released, the Apostles rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name,
    • v. 41. Can you see yourself responding similarly to such mistreatment (today called “hate crimes”)? Why or why not?
  • Our Lord urged His apostles directly, us indirectly, to hold fast some key expectations to help them/us to bear up under persecution. What are they? See John 15:18-16:4; echoed in I Peter 4:1-2, 12-14.
  • See the other expectation: John 16:16:-24. James mentions it in 5:7, 8, 9.
