Questions for Study:

  • What are some good forms of fear? Bad forms? What thing or things make the difference between the two?
  • We find the word “fear” or “fear not” eight times in Luke’s first two chapters, chapters associated with events connected with Christ’s birth. Some forms of fear are implied. Besides the shepherds’ terror at the angelic visit, what other form/forms of fear do they display in the rest of the account, vv. 15-20?
  • Have people, have we, lost our sense of awe at God, His character and mighty works (such as the sending of His Son into this world)? Why? How do we cooperate with the Lord that He may help us recover our sense of awe at Him?
