Title: Serving Our Persecuted Brethren

Theme: Remember our persecuted Christian brothers & sisters.

Reference: Hebrews 13:1-19

  1. _________________ them is a loving work of our hearts.
    1. He directs us to make this God-serving good work a regular mental habit
    2. Remembering involves research as a way of getting to know them, where they live and something of their suffering; what Heb. 10:33 calls, being partners of those so treated.
  2. __________________them is a loving work of our hands.
    1. In Scripture, when God remembers, it implies He intervenes. “Remember” here has that same implication of helping action.
    2. We also help our suffering brethren elsewhere by making things hot for Satan where we are.

Questions for Study:

  • Have ever endured suffering directly connected to your faith in Christ? What was your gut reaction? How did you handle it?
  • What does Scripture say should be our outlook on persecution for our faith in Christ? See II Timothy 3:12; I Peter 4:12-14.
  • How can we remember/help persecuted believers in our locality? What help clues can we gain from Jesus’ Word in Matthew 25:35-40.
  • How can we remember/help persecuted believers in other localities in this world if we’re personally unable to visit or minister directly to them? One key way, see Hebrews 13:18.
  • On average, how often do you think of/pray for our afflicted brethren? If not often, how can you increase your remembering’s frequency & intensity?
  • Do you believe American Christians will soon endure persecution for Christ in at least some measure as our brethren elsewhere do? If yes, how does that affect your application of Hebrews 13:3?
