Questions for Further Study:

The NT has many references to eternal life beside the one we have in John 5.  See for example Matthew 19:27-30; Romans 6:1-14; 8:18-25; I Corinthians 15; II Corinthians 5; Galatians 2:20;  Ephesians 2:4-7; Hebrews 12:22-24; I Peter 1:3-8; I John 1-5; Revelation 7:9-17; 21-22.  Additionally, every Scripture that speaks of living out the Christian faith & life describes living out the eternal life in our life here.

Here are some OT Scriptures describing eternal life, or the experience of eternal life:  Psalm 16:11; 17:15; Isaiah 2:1-5; 11:1-16; 35:1-10; 65:17-25; Jeremiah 31; Ezekiel 36:22-37:28; 40:1-48:35.Hosea 14; Joel 3; Amos 9:11-15; Micah 4:1-5:15; Zephaniah 3:9-20; Haggai 2:9; Zechariah 9:14-17; 10:6-12; 14:1-21.  What does the presence of so many Scriptures dealing with eternal life tell us?

What does eternal life look like in everyday practice as to our outlook on life, our work ethic, our treatment of others, our willingness to endure hardship & press on?

Why is eternal life in Christ be qualitative as well as quantitative?  Put otherwise, why must it be more than simply living forever?  Genesis 3:22-24
